Green Street Redevelopment – Ithaca, NY

John Snyder Architects is pleased to be teamed up with the Vecino Group on the Green Street Redevelopment project. The Vecino (named Asteri Ithaca) proposal will create 209 affordable homes, in a mix of studios, 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom units.  Their proposal has more affordable units than any of the other development team submissions.   If selected, our development team will work collaboratively with the City and other constituents to create a thoughtful and a well designed building we will all be proud of.  For more information and to see the work completed by the Vecino Group in other communities see ( Along with the Vecino Design / John Snyder Architects team other local consultants such as Elwyn and Palmer (structural), the LA Group (civil and landscape architecture) and Welliver will head up construction. Public Architecture 1+ program

John Snyder Architects is committed to providing design services for the community and welcomes 501(c)(3) nonprofits and organizations with fiscal sponsors as pro bono clients. Preservation League of NY – 2017 Excellence Award

ALBANY, NY- 4/27/17 – The Preservation League of New York State has selected the Argos Inn in Ithaca to receive an award for Excellence in Historic Preservation. The League’s statewide awards program honors notable achievements in retaining, promoting and reusing New York State’s irreplaceable architectural heritage. “Built as a private residence and contributing to the East Hill Historic District, this property had been used for office space for many years and was in poor condition in 2009,” said Jay DiLorenzo, President of the Preservation League. “The building has been given new life as a boutique hotel and gathering space. The restoration employed local artisans to restore or fabricate intricate architectural details that were lost or covered over – including more than a mile of millwork. The Argos Inn has created living-wage jobs in compliance with a low-interest loan secured from the Ithaca Urban Renewal Agency, and used green building techniques with a goal of LEED certification.” John Snyder Architects worked extensively with the Owner Avi Smith from 2009 through the completion in 2013.
